Government has released K800, 000 towards the improvement of sanitary conditions at Luwingu Secondary School.

Northern Province Minister Freedom Sikazwe revealed the development when Education Deputy Minister Patrick Ngoma paid a courtesy call on him yesterday.

Mr Sikazwe expressed hope the works would be carried out in the shortest possible time so that the school can re-open.

Recently, Lupososhi area Member of Parliament Chungu Bwalya attributed the sanitation problem at the institution to run-down water and sewer system.

Luwingu Secondary School was closed by the ministry of health about a month ago following the non-compliance of several inspection reports and recommendations made by the district medical office.

The school had a broken drainage and sewer system, poor waste disposal facilities and had no running water.
